BERDANI develops tailpieces that are precisely handcrafted to perfectly match your instrument. All Berdani products are completely made in Germany. We offer different models and different lengths to ensure that your instrument produces the best possible sound.

Our idea for an optimal sound:

The weighting of the tailpiece is chosen in such a way that the vibrations of the instrument are supported and not hindered.

the tailpiece is hollowed out so that it does not favour a wolf tone

the angles of the strings from the bridge to the tailpiece do not taper, but run straight down and parallel to each other. The result is a harmonious and balanced sound
the slot width is so wide that the thickest string will fit into the slot without having to be trimmed. The string thus swings more freely
the tailpiece comes with a plastic and a braided string. You can decide which sound you like better

the rim of the tailpiece is rounded on one side to minimize string rubbing

the fine tuners are made of titanium and can be installed and removed by hand
A smooth-running thread allows the screw in the titanium fine tuner to be loosely turned and optimally tuned.

Berdani's Dark Paper

Sustainable, environmentally friendly and innovative - An alternative to ebony

Our idea: We wanted to find a material that was equal to ebony in appearance, weight and sound, but could be produced sustainably. We succeeded. The result is Berdani`s Dark Paper, a composite of recycled paper and resin.

Manufacturing:

To produce the high-quality Dark Paper, recycled paper is impregnated with a warm resin, layered by hand and pressed under high pressure.

appearance:

The finished product looks like the finest ebony wood. It has a continuous black colour and the same hardness and density as ebony. In addition, Berdani`s Dark Paper is heat and dirt repellent and resistant to moisture and sweat. As the material is made of purely natural components, it is 100% ecologically degradable. Berdani`s Dark Paper is also non-toxic and does not shrink or swell.

Processing / Use:

The composite material can be processed immediately and without long storage times. The material can be worked with conventional violin making tools; it can be planed, filed and sanded.

Dark Boxwood and Boxwood

We have developed a process to colour the boxwood in a natural and wood-friendly way. Our boxwood is dyed completely without stain, lye or acid. The player has no chemicals on his body. We dye the boxwood in the oven without burning or weakening the wood. We only use pure linseed oil and canauba wax for the surface. The luthier only has to oil the tailpiece after working on it, no staining or lyeing is necessary. We offer the boxwood in 2 colours.

Boxwood looks like traditionally dyed boxwood.

Dark Boxwood can be used as a substitute for rosewood.
